Theme Questions:
What is the difference between getting "inspiration" from another piece and "stealing" an idea?
The difference between being inspired to create a piece and stealing a piece is that when you are inspired you may use an idea or aspect of the piece but also add different elements to make it your own. You can even use a different medium. If you are stealing a piece you are copying the exact artwork and not using you own imagination and creativeness.
Is it okay to use part of an idea or part of another picture in your piece if you change something or give credit to the original source?
I believe that it is okay to use part of an idea in your piece because it shows that you were inspired to make your own representation of it. If you use part of an image in your artwork but give credit to the original source is also okay because you gave credit to the artist you thought of the piece and designed it.
Final Piece Questions:
Why did you combine the pieces you did?
I combined blood and nail polish because I wanted to create something that was different and unique. I also wanted two objects that would be fun to combine. There wasn't an exact reason why I chose the two pieces other than the fact that I was randomly choosing objects and writing them down as possible choices.
Why did you pick this medium? Was is because you enjoy working with it? Or was it to match your idea?
I chose oil pastels as my medium because I enjoy working with them and getting my hands dirty to blend colors together. I also felt more comfortable using a crayon that I could control rather than a paint brush.
If you were to change ONE thing about your piece what would it be?
If I could change one thing about my piece I would probably make the background more even on both sides of the hand so that the eye doesn't look to one side first.
What is the most successful thing about your art piece?
I think that the most successful part of my piece was my blending of colors and adding different shades of the same color by using black and white.
