For our most recent Illustration Friday the topic was "sleep". For this topic I decided to draw a sheep with numbers behind it because people supposedly count sheep when they can't fall asleep. With this illustration is not only experimented with crayons, but I incorporated many different colors to get the exact color I wanted for the lamb. I also tried to keep as much texture as I could. Written By: Zoe Lukas For Illustration Friday, on the Friday that "noise" was the topic I drew Ariel. I thought that she was an un-ordinary way of represented noise or perhaps the lack of noise. I honestly, really enjoy using the colored-pencils and experimenting with the shading and bolding of lines. Final Piece | |
How is this artwork about who you are or what you like? This artwork represents me because it consists of three of my most favorite things. When looking at the drawing there are Pointe shoes in the left hand, because I love to dance, and there are ear-buds in the right hand because I always listen to music. The third item in the drawing is the lyrics that run on the sleeves. Those lyrics are part of the lyrics to my favorite song; Thunder Road, by Bruce Springsteen. |
Did you try something that you weren't sure about as part of this project?
I did try something new for this final project. Usually drawing hands is pretty hard and challenging for me but I wanted my objects to be held or be apart of something so it didn't just look like three random items on a piece of paper. I decided to draw two hands holding the objects. It took me a whole day and a half to get them the way I wanted. It was also very challenging because once I finished with the right hand I thought the left hand would be easier, but It was even more challenging, because I had to draw what I already drew but reversed.

For Illustration Friday the topic was "Jagged."
I chose to draw a Snow Leopard, because the teeth (to me) represented the word "jagged."
I tried to draw something out of the box, and something that would be different than the expected jagged lines or the word "jagged" written in different lines and styles.
I really enjoyed this activity. It allowed me to try drawing something new and different than what I'm used to.

During my fourth period Art 1 class, we got into groups and were told to take as many artsy perspective pictures around campus as we could. At first this assignment was tricky because we didn't see any examples, but after we started understanding what we had to do it became so much more fun and exciting. It was a fun class because we got to know the people in our group more while do art, and being creative. It was interesting to see how many pictures we took using the perspective technique and I just had so much fun. | If we did this assignment again I would just want to add examples of what the teacher is expecting so that we use more of our time finding pictures than figuring out what we have to do. Art With Jan Mraz
This article elaborates on the artist Jan Mraz. He is a very talented artist who works with sketching, drawing, and tattoos. He uses many different elements in his work to show different aspects and designs. He makes his artwork out of the use of color, lines, geometric shapes, ink, and color ink. His artwork "sticks out" to me because compared to other artwork I have seen his is extremely different. Not only does he do canvas artwork but he does tattoos as well. The tattoos that he does are so beautiful because of the placement, shapes, and different shades and tints of colors. Im also drawn into them because these examples (top right) are Bobek tattoos,so they aren't as common. On his canvas work, I love how he truly makes them his own. For instance the dog picture on the right uses so many different colors which just catches the viewer's eye. He also makes his animals his own by using more shapes and uncommon accessories. The main reason his art speaks to me is because everything he does creates a new feeling, and one piece is never the same as another. Visit his site at janmraz.com/ Written By: Zoe Lukas |
